Located on the southeastern tip of the island is Haad Rin, the island’s backpacker and party village. The majority of visitors to the island stay there, especially before the Full Moon party. From accommodation and food services to clubs, car and motorcycle rentals to shops, massages, diving to pharmacies, clinics, post offices, banks, and cash withdrawal machines, a tourist’s village has everything they need. With three main areas for recreation, there are a variety of activities you can participate in both on land and in the sea in the village, diving, fishing, water sports such as swimming or kayaking, or just enjoying a soccer or volleyball tournament in the village or on the beach. In Haad Rin Nok Beach, also known as Sunrise Beach, there is a large party that takes place every month, with around 10,000 people visiting the beach every month and even 3 times as many coming over for the Christmas and New Year’s parties. As the beach is the area with the highest concentration of accommodation, clubs and bars, those who choose to stay there will be right in the heart of it all. Due to the noise, congestion, and dirt on the beach, I recommend staying at either of the other two beaches during the party instead.
One of the island’s largest beaches is surrounded by rocky mountains on both sides, creating a beautiful bay surrounded by white sand and coconut trees. During the day, sunbeds fill the beach, and at night, revelers fill the streets. It is mandatory to book accommodations at least a month in advance, as hotels are fully booked five days before the party. This isn’t the perfect place to be spontaneous. Even if you didn’t come to arty, at least try one of the hallmarks of the beach – a “bucket”, which is a kind of very big bucket of alcohol mixed with juice.
Sunset Beach, also known as Haad Rin Nai Beach, is a quieter and more relaxed beach. Compared to its older brother, it has a narrower and less beautiful beach, fewer hotels and tourist services, and is much cheaper. Tide effects heavily on the sea, especially from April to December. The sunset beach is only ten minutes from the party and the center of things, so it offers both silence and proximity to the party.
The southwestern tip of the island is home to Haad Leela Beach, sometimes referred to as Haad Seekantang, a great option if you want to be near the center of things but not too close. The other two beaches are within walking distance. There are several good hotels here, including Cocohat, which is very popular with Israelis. There are palm trees, coral reefs, and long white beaches dotted with palm trees. Among Hadrin beaches, this is probably the best choice for families with children.
Vannee Golden Sands
The Vannee Golden Sands provides rooms in Haad Rin with a beachfront location and a 4-star rating. Amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, and a garden. The four-star hotel has a restaurant, as well as rooms that are equipped with air conditioning, free WiFi, and private bathrooms. The hotel provides its customers with both room service and a front desk that is staffed around the clock.
